Home Recording

I went to the Home Recording forum and it was dead so I came here, now that
I have a tiny bit of knowledge on modes I wanted to record something. I
must say I have a tiny bit of knowledge on simple home recording also, very
tiny. I have a Fast Track USB Pro interface from Maudio. I never really
used it too much because I can't hear my guitar while recording. I don't
want to mic a amp so I just went straight into the software and the latency
is bad. So I bought some Rokit 5 monitors. This was how I connected.
Cables from the TRS outputs of the Fast Track into the monitors and my
guitar straight into the recording input on the Fast Track Pro. Worked very
nice. I could hear my guitar coming out of the speakers. Then I thought
maybe I can use my amp and do this. I have a Vox ADT30 and it has a
line/headphone jack on the back so I ran a cable out of there into the
recording jack on the Fast Track Pro and ran my guitar into the amp. Worked
very nice. I could use any effects on the amp while recording. The sound
bypassed the amp and came out the monitors but sounded great. I recorded
something and then played it back and that was great too. I did noticed
sound only coming out of one monitor though, so I must have done something
wrong but no biggie for now. Then I shut the amp off and tried to record a
vocal. My mic must not be the right kind because the signal in was weak so
I gave that up and went back to recording. The problem is that when I
record now Im not getting any sound out of the monitors. Nothing at all.
They work fine for playback but thats it. Where did I go wrong? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Guitar is a mono instrument. So what ever side you plugged it in that
will be the side that is recorded.
