(I don't think I've ever been so far off topic but anyway...)

I had a slightly anxious flight once in which my seat
was right next to the engine on a MD-80 type plane. Looking
out the window all I could see was the engine putting
the turbines a few feet beside my head. This just after
reading about an incident where the turbine had come apart
and the plane had been riddled with blades and bits, but
no one being hurt in that incident if I recall correctly.

I saw a helicopter engine come apart on a twin engine one and one engine
grenade an took the other one out.
