Hi,

I've been a SysAdmin for 20 years now, but have never gotten into the
development end to any real degree. I would like to expand my abilities and
attended a Launch event and received a copy of Visual Studio 2008. Can you
point me to resources for someone wanting to learn it's uses and capabilities
who has no prior experience with the product? Books, website, any resources
would be useful.

Thanks,

Mike

Finding good literature on learning =Visual Studio= is tough. Everybody
writes about the programming languages or the framework, but I've not seen
much written about the tool itself.

The first place I'd suggest starting is the MSDN Library -- look at the
Intro sections, and do the walkthroughs -- which will get you started, but
come nowhere near scratching the surface of all that VS is capable of.

You might also check the Visual Studio Express Editions -- as they're
targeted at entry level users, they may be a bit richer in entry-level
documentation.

Beyond that, possibly the next best resource would be Microsoft Webcasts
(http://www.microsoft.com/events/developer.mspx).

There may also be some eLearning courses available at
