The B string is a strange beast. I don't know why but I have also
experience this lack of cooperation. If you look at your saddle(s)
you'll see that it doesn't want to fall in line with the other strings.
And it doesn't sound as nice as the other strings either. B is a
low harmonic of E so it probably excites the two strings quite a bit
when it's ringing, which could confuse your tuner.

So muting all the lower strings may solve the problem. I have found
that most tuners I have used have been somewhat less responsive to
the b than to the other strings, so you may need to play it a bit
more forte than the other strings, but other players may not have found
this to be true with newer or different tuners. daveA
