I believe the idea is that your larynx has to drop to sing a high
note properly, so the higher the note the lower you have to move
everything in your throat down (also the higher the note the more
you have to support it from underneath with your whole body).

Next time you go for a high note make a gesture with your hand in
the air like your grabbing your throat and pulling down on it while
pushing up on the note with everything you've got below your stomach.
